You are warmly invited to participate in our traditional Day of the Dead Celebration Tour. This Mexican celebration seeks to commemorate and remember those who physically are no longer with us but remain in our hearts.

The Episcopal Campus Ministry at IU would like to invite you to come, decorate votive candles, and put them on the altar with your prayers. Also, we will have a list at the altar where you can write the names of people who you would like to be remembered at All Saints Mass on Sunday. You are also invited to visit the other houses joining this celebration: La Casa Latino Cultural Center, the LGBTQ+ Culture Center, and First Nations.

According to the traditions for this special celebration, feel free to bring a photo or other belongings that remind you of your beloved departed. You can then pick these items up at the end of our activity.

Pray for Peace Vigil

When?: Begins Monday, October 6th, 2018 – 9:00am until the early evening; the vigil will last for 30 days
Where?: Dunn Meadow

J.P. McDaniel, a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, asked Episcopal Campus Ministry to co-sponsor a Pray for Peace Vigil. Each day, he will set up a tent in the free speech area of Dunn Meadow. The tent will be held down by water jugs. J.P. will spread a blanket outside the tent and place an electric candle on the blanket. The tent will have a banner that invites people to pray for peace. Once people have finished their meditation or prayer, there will be small slips of paper on which people can write their prayers. These prayers will be collected each day and left in the Canterbury House chapel, where they will be incorporated into our Sunday services.

J.P. McDaniel describes the Pray for Peace Vigil in this way:
“The Pray for Peace vigil is an opportunity to focus on inner and world peace. This should be our constant goal as children of God and citizens of Earth. Accepting and sharing this invitation to simply pause and pray for peace can and will enrich the lives of individuals and the community at large. Amidst all the anger, hatred, division, and violence in our world: we can here and now invoke the Divine Love and receive a blessing, for ourselves and for the world. Pray for Peace!”Episcopal Campus Ministry at IU
